Convocation votes overwhelmingly to change the Law Society's name at next meeting
To further its commitment to facilitating access to justice for Ontarians, Convocation voted overwhelmingly to change the Law Society's name at its next meeting in November and to discontinue use of the words “Upper Canada.” Full story

New rules approved re: real estate advertising
New rules for the advertising of fixed-price residential real estate services support transparency and ensure consumers may easily compare prices. Full story.

Access to Justice enhanced with delivery of legal services through CSOs
Convocation approved, in principle, a policy to permit lawyers and paralegals to provide legal services through civil society organizations (CSOs), such as charities and not-for-profit organizations. Full story.

Administrative fees increased
Convocation approved increases to late filing and payment fees. Full story.

Lawyer and paralegal rules amended
Convocation amended rules and guidelines regarding: Dishonesty, fraud by clients or others; Competence and the provision of legal opinions; Language rights. Full story.
