2012 Law Society Annual Report

The two-part 2012 Annual Report, including the Performance Highlights and Financial Statements, provides a complete overview of both the Law Society's activities throughout the year and its financial results.

The Performance Highlights report discusses the Law Society's progress in 2012 against the six priorities Convocation set for the 2011-2015 bencher term. It looks at the activities the organization undertook to facilitate greater access to justice; enhance member competence and professional standards; promote equity, diversity and retention; ameliorate Tribunal issues; examine business structures; and protect the Ontario public through professional regulation.

Highlights from 2012 include the approval of a three-year Law Practice Program pilot and a review of Law Society operations to realign activities and create efficiencies. 2012 also saw the creation of the YourLaw website, a rebranding of the Law Society Referral Service, the launch of a new Member Assistance Program, the extension of the Parental Leave Assistance Program, and the establishment of a non-Bencher lawyer Tribunals Chair.

The annual financial statements were approved by Convocation on April 25, 2013, and show the Law Society continues to maintain a strong financial position.
