Notice to the Profession: Security Enhancements at the Courts

The Courts Administration Service (CAS) is implementing a number of physical security enhancements intended to ensure that courts remain a secure environment.

The CAS provides services to the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada.

New security equipment will be installed by CAS in all of its locations across the country over the coming months.

In addition, effective March 27, 2017, licensees and their belongings will be subject to security screening prior to having access to the Courts.

It is recommended that licensees apprise their clients of these requirements so that they can plan their arrival at court accordingly.

Details of the process and a comprehensive list of items prohibited in the Courts are available on the Courts and CAS websites.
