Convocation approved the Practice Direction on Adjournment Requests to Hearing Panel on October 27, 2011.
The Law Society is committed to the just and expeditious determination of regulatory proceedings. The Rules of Practice and Procedure (“Rules”), made pursuant to section 61.2 of the Law Society Act, govern the Law Society’s tribunals proceedings before the Hearing Panel.
Rule 14 of the Rules speaks to the issue of adjournments. The Law Society developed the Practice Direction on Adjournment Requests to Hearing Panel to provide further guidance to parties. This Practice Direction does not replace the provisions respecting adjournments in the Rules.
