The Law Society of Upper Canada voices its grave concern over the removal and deportation of Peter Law, the Chief Magistrate and Supreme Court Register of Nauru, and the revocation of the visa of the Chief Justice Geoffrey Eames. On January 19, 2014, Peter Law’s employment was terminated. The police then took him into custody and to the airport where he was deported. The Chief Justice of Nauru, Geoffrey Eames, issued an injunction preventing the removal of Mr. Law from his position as Chief Magistrate and Supreme Court Register of Nauru. In response, the visa of the Chief Justice was revoked and he was barred from entering Nauru.
