File the Paralegal Annual Report

Purpose

Under By-Law 8, Part II all licensed paralegals must file a Paralegal Annual Report with the Law Society by March 31st each year. Paralegals provide details regarding their provision of legal services and financial activities during the preceding year in this report. By-Law 8, Part II requires the report to be filed in an electronic format specified by the Law Society.

Who This Applies To

Paralegals licensed by the Law Society must submit a Paralegal Annual Report in order to maintain their licence.

Reporting Requirements

  • E-file a complete Paralegal Annual Report at https://portal.lsuc.on.ca by March 31st each year
  • Ensure that Membership Services has up to date contact information (including telephone/fax numbers, and mailing/email addresses for business and home) in the Change of Information section at https://portal@lsuc.on.ca
  • Under By-Law 8, Part II, if a licensed paralegal is unable to e-file the report, he/she must apply each year to the Law Society for an exemption from the requirement to file electronically and request that a paper copy be faxed, emailed or mailed. Email bylawadmin@lsuc.on.ca or fax 416-947-3408, your request for a paper copy.

Non-compliance

Licensed paralegals who fail to file their Paralegal Annual Report on time will be subject to a $100.00 late fee, as well as potential administrative suspension. See the Administrative Suspension page for more information.

Review Process

The By-Law Administration Services department reviews all paper reports for incomplete and/or blank responses. If a report is incomplete, a BAS Representative will contact the licensed paralegal to request additional information.

Amendments to annual reports must be submitted in writing along with a signed disclaimer giving permission to amend the Paralegal Annual Report.

E-filing the Paralegal Annual Report saves time and ensures that all responses are complete before the form can be submitted.

Administrative Fees

There is no fee to file the Paralegal Annual Report.
